April 26, 5:30pm – Dinner with local author Sherry Knowlton

Sherry Knowlton, a local author born and raised in Chambersburg, PA,  will be a guest speaker at the Franklin County Historical Society’s  dinner meeting at The Renaissance Dining Room in Penn Hall on  Tuesday, April 26, 2016 starting at 5:30 pm.  Knowlton will speak  about “The Importance of Fact in Fiction.”  Delving into this topic,  she will talk about the research conducted to write her books,  including fact-finding for the legendary 1930s “Babes in the Woods”  story that is predominantly featured in her first novel, Dead of  Autumn. The cost is $17.00 per person and reservations are required.

May 2-27 – Cemetery Scavenger Hunt Sponsored by the Franklin Co Visitors Bureau

Individuals or teams are invited to take part in a Franklin County cemetery hunt! Registration is $8.00 per person. You will be provided with clues, maps, and a Flat Ben to be used to find specific headstones. Write down the information or snap a photo with Ben and turn in your packet by 4:00pm on May 27. Prizes: $100 1st, $75 2nd, $50 3rd.

May 28, 2:00 – Downtown Abbey Tea

It’s time for one of our most popular events! Join us for tea in the courtyard of The Old Jail. Tea, refreshments, and entertainment are included with the $25.00 price. There will also be raffles. Don’t forget your hat! Tickets are required – make sure to reserve your spot soon because this event will sell out!
