Brown’s Mill School Opens this Weekend

Starting this weekend, Brown’s Mill School will be open on Saturdays and Sundays in July and August from 1:00-4:00.  The school is located near the intersection of Angle Road and Brown’s Mill Road in Kauffman Station.  Turn onto Kauffman Station Road W. from Rt. 11 S., then onto Brown’s Mill Road.  The school is across from Manito.

Bridal Exhibit Still on Display

We had a successful opening weekend with our Strawberry Social and new “Here Come the Brides” exhibit.  Thanks to everyone who came out!

The exhibit will remain on display until the fall so you still have a chance to see the beautiful gowns!  Admission to the exhibit alone is $2.00 and includes a pamphlet about the exhibit pieces.

We are now a Blue Star Museum!

Blue Star Museums is a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and more than 2,000 museums across America to offer free admission to the nation’s active duty military personnel including National Guard and Reserve and their families from Memorial Day, May 29, through Labor Day, September 4, 2017.  For more info: Blue Star Museums

History Meets the Arts

The 20th annual History Meets the Arts (HMTA) show & sale will be held at Gettysburg College, June 9-11 2017 in historic Gettysburg, PA. Produced by Lord Nelson’s Gallery, you’ll meet over 30 artists in person during this three day event. Artists include painters, sculptors and traditional 18th century period accoutrement makers, in addition to accomplished historical book authors.

Cemetery Scavenger Hunt 2017

The Franklin County Historical Society and the Franklin County Visitors Bureau invite you to participate in a Franklin County Cemetery Scavenger Hunt!
Cost: $10 per person.
Participants may work in groups or alone. The hunt will last the whole month will all the answers being checked after the 30th.

PICK UP YOUR PACKET AND REGISTER at The Old Jail starting Thursday, June 1 from 10:00-4:00. Your packet will contain clues and maps. Your job will be to find the headstones listed and gather information or photos.
TURN IN YOUR PACKET ON OR BEFORE Friday, June 30 at 4:00pm at The Old Jail.

PRIZES – $100 1st, $75 2nd, $50 3rd. In the event of a tie the winner will be determined by a drawing.
